Tesset

Visual effects plugin for tessellation mirror tiling.

Tesset was built as a single-purpose tool that expands into many uses. Developed as a plugin for Resolume Arena, it operates directly on the video signal, mirroring, tiling, and transforming output in real time. The goal was to create something precise and reliable that could move between environments without breaking. It’s been developed and used over time in both live performance and ongoing work, shaping a system that is flexible in use but consistent in behavior.

Tesset is focused on one core action. Everything is built around reflection, repetition, and transformation of a signal. That focus allows it to stay clear in purpose while remaining adaptable across different setups and outputs.

The tool is designed to shift based on context. It can be pushed into different configurations depending on the system it’s placed in, adapting to scale, format, and environment. The structure stays consistent, but the output changes based on how it’s used.

Tesset exists in a space where there are few direct equivalents. It’s built from ongoing use, not as a concept but as a working tool. The result is something specific, shaped by real conditions and needs, that doesn’t rely on existing solutions.

Construction

The identity reflects the behavior of the tool itself. The mark is mirrored across a central axis, reinforcing the idea of reflection and duplication. A limited two-color palette keeps the system direct and functional, allowing the form to carry the meaning. Like the plugin, the design is reduced to essential operations, built to move cleanly across different environments while maintaining a consistent structure.
